Banana and pizza? Ewww, nasty combination! Actually, it never fails to amaze me the things people, myself included, will eat at work that we wouldn't normally touch or have at the same time..

So Jen, I'm curious about your field of expertise. What kind of stuff do you get to do all day?

sf-this will probably gross you out, but the banana was half-eaten at lunch and then finished after my second beer...as dessert.

md-lately I have been grant writing (two computers, too many papers and the occasional beer), before that I was working on a paper, but I should be at the lab bench doing wet science... less and less time for that these days. I study regeneration of hearing loss.

To All the blobbers - protect your hearing, wear your ear plugs at concerts, when operating machinery, and even if your vacuum is loud. And don't shove earbuds/headphones in your ears for hours and hours on end with the volume turned up. AND if you have "gotten used to" the loud noise (at work, at a concert, or....), then you have damaged your hearing a little bit, right then and there. So just put some ear plugs in, you will be surprised at how much you can still hear but you are adding a level of protection. AND, its never too late to protect your hearing...if you can still hear at ALL, you still have hearing to protect.

Seriously, folks take care of it, prevention is all we have, despite my and others best efforts. You will thank me when you can participate in a conversation later, instead of just pretending you aren't interested because you can't hear it.

This public service announcement has been brought to you by a procrastinating scientist. You may now return to your regularly scheduled blog reading.

Thanks for the info. How very interesting. Oooh....do you get to do some mad scientist stuff with DNA and genetically altering one body part to make another? Like maybe replicating and eardrum?

Ha, your comment is longer then your post. Pizza looks good...I have been wearing earplugs for years. I also work around airplanes...so I have good reason...I hate loud noises. Specially a vacuum, hair dryer, that is why I rarely do either. Sounds like I have dirty floors and wet hair.
