Here is what we have been up to...
Last week the washer finally lost its junk and modestly flooded the floor. Its old. We knew we were on borrowed laundry time, so we never ran it unless we were home. Whew...minimal damage, mostly inconvenience.
So, not being ones to miss out on an opportunity, we ripped out the laundry closet vinyl so we could begin to make it look as swanky as our new washer and dryer promises to be.
This is the progress we have made so far:
Tuesday (a week ago): flooding. Pulled out vinyl and baseboards. Set up big fans.
Tuesday - Thursday: Fans continue to run to ensure its completely dry in there.
Thursday night: Self-leveling cement to level the floor.
Friday: Shopping for tile.
Saturday: Paint. Tile.
Sunday: Grout...sets for 48hours....that is where we are now.
So here we are on Wednesday... Needing to finish up with new baseboards and ordering the new washer and dryer!
The entire week has been peppered with calling electricians, looking up appliance specs, consulting venting codes etc. Its all been a little tricky as 1) the closet is small, 2) the vent is long, 3) the wiring is older and 4) the space is lacking a 11oV receptacle. But we have it finally figured out!
